Group Blog

     For the music video project, I am working in a group. The members of this group are Riley McClanahan, and Marissa and Mackena Modafferri. During class, Riley actually came up to me and asked me if I had a group. To this, I replied no and she asked me to be part of her group. She told me she had asked me to join because she thought I had a good work ethic and that she likes me so "It'll be perfect!" I accepted her offer because she and Marissa and Mackena seem like very fun and creative people, and creativity is definitely something you need for this project. Also, Marissa and Mackena are in a different class period, which even though it will definitely pose its own challenges, it may be beneficial sometimes. Because they are in a different class period, we will be able have work done on our project in more than one time of the day as well as outside of school.

The song we chose is Burn by Ellie Goulding.  To choose this song, we went through many other songs and genres. We looked at Burn, Burn, Burn by Zach Bryan, but we wanted a more peppy feel. We tried Possibility from the show Twilight but we found the same problem as with Burn, Burn, Burn. Next we tried Brutal by Olivia Rodrigo which was a very viable option as we could formulate a story behind it. We then looked at this song called the fire truck song which we immediately ruled out. We lastly looked at Kill Bill by SZA which we could also come up with a possible story for. At this point we had three viable songs to choose from so we brought them up to Marissa and Mackena. We ended up choosing Burn because for the most part, it was the only song we could all semi agree on. Marissa and Mackena’s father also works at a fire station that they were set on using in the music video. So that it could be used, we decided on Burn because we figured we could incorporate it somewhere. Also, the song Burn is about finding your passions and lighting up the world when you set yourself free. We thought this would be a fun concept to work with and explore.

Today was our final time meeting up to film! Today, we are fixing our mistakes and creating a more coherent and sound production.       First, we tackled the comment on the busyness of the park scene. I wasn’t familiar with Marissa and Mackena’s neighborhood, as the start of this whole project was my first time being there. Marissa offered a good idea of going to their public community pool just down the street, and since it was cold outside, no one would be there to see Mackena and Riley in their toddler costumes again.        For the pool scene, this was our easiest scene to film yet. We had them sit across the pool on the chairs to make it seem like the viewer was watching them from afar. Title Research: Red Lights

     The film established a spooky ere feeling based on many factors. The music was deep fast and intriguing, it made the people watching nervous as the music sped up as pictures were shown. The color of the film representing the grey, black, and white all provoked feelings of scaredness and fear. It made the film dark and gloomy but it was also interesting to see what would happen next. It also used flashing white lights almost as a jump scare to get the person watching spooked and ready.         The images prioritized in the opening sequence were hands and windows. Making the viewer think that a person is stuck or trapped. The film also displays a lot of skulls representing death. The film also caught the viewer's eye by adding in red dots to the background of the film as the title saying red lights appeared. There was also a flashed picture of a girl which could represent a victim or potentially the main character of the film.    ...
