Research and Planning Blog

 To start structuring and planning my All About Me commercial, I first looked through my whole camera roll for a picture of me when I was little. After a while of searching, I couldn't seem to find anything so I took to the family group chat to look through all of the photos sent in there. Sure enough, I found a picture of me and my sister when we were little toddlers at the beach. I figured this would be a good picture to use and chose it because it had both me and my sister in it who I talked about in my intro blog. 

Next, I wanted to find a picture that matches up with another thing I mentioned in my intro blog which was my pets. I searched through the photo album I made affectionately titled "furbawls" which is where I try to keep all the photos I have of my cats. After a long search, I ended up not finding any pictures with me in it that I wanted to use. I then remembered a picture that I had posted on Instagram a while ago that I thought I would want to use. I found the post but unfortunately, there was a song sticker over it and little gifs so I had to search for the picture in my camera roll for the clean version. I chose this picture of one of my kittens Lucy standing on my back in the mirror because I thought it was a good representation of my relationship with my cats.

My next step was to identify another topic of my life that I wanted to put into the commercial which I decided would be piano. I immediately knew what picture I wanted to use so I searched piano in the photo search bar and it didn't show so I searched up December because I knew the photo was taken during the Christmas recital. The photo showed up a little way down and I moved on to finding my fourth picture. I chose this picture because I think it looks nice and it captures the stage and beauty of the piano and performing well.

For the fourth picture, I wanted it to be a picture of me with my friends as they are an extremely important part of my life. I looked through my friends highlight on Instagram because I figured there would be a picture of all of us on there somewhere because even though I spend so much time with them, we hardly have any pictures of all of us together. Sure enough, I found only one picture of almost all of us (minus one.) I couldn't find the clean version of the photo but I decided to use it anyway because I think a photo with all of us is better to use than a photo that's less representative.

For my fifth and last picture, I wanted it to contrast the first picture I used which was me and my sister when we were toddlers. I thought back to her graduation in June and remembered that we took pictures together with her cap and gown on a golf cart to the University. I searched for June in my photos and found the pictures we took before her graduation.

As for the videos, I wanted one that showed my love for music, especially live music. I looked through the videos I've taken at the concerts I've been to and decided on one video from a Panic! at the Disco concert I went to with my friends and my sister. The second video I wanted to be another representation of my friends and my enjoyment for having a good time so I found a video of me and my friends at homecoming at Pompano Beach High School during my sophomore year.

For the song, I chose Ego by Grentperez because it's one of my favorite songs at the moment. It's a very upbeat fast-paced song which I think goes with the generally upbeat and happy nature of commercials and the photos and videos that I chose.

Today was our final time meeting up to film! Today, we are fixing our mistakes and creating a more coherent and sound production.       First, we tackled the comment on the busyness of the park scene. I wasn’t familiar with Marissa and Mackena’s neighborhood, as the start of this whole project was my first time being there. Marissa offered a good idea of going to their public community pool just down the street, and since it was cold outside, no one would be there to see Mackena and Riley in their toddler costumes again.        For the pool scene, this was our easiest scene to film yet. Title Research: Red Lights

     The film established a spooky ere feeling based on many factors. The music was deep fast and intriguing, it made the people watching nervous as the music sped up as pictures were shown. The color of the film representing the grey, black, and white all provoked feelings of scaredness and fear. It made the film dark and gloomy but it was also interesting to see what would happen next. It also used flashing white lights almost as a jump scare to get the person watching spooked and ready.         The images prioritized in the opening sequence were hands and windows. Making the viewer think that a person is stuck or trapped. The film also displays a lot of skulls representing death. The film also caught the viewer's eye by adding in red dots to the background of the film as the title saying red lights appeared. There was also a flashed picture of a girl which could represent a victim or potentially the main character of the film.    ...
