Commercial Reflection

This commercial was my first official project in the AICE Media Studies class, so it was definitely a unique and new experience. Throughout this project, I learned to use the app Capcut to edit everything together. I also got more familiar with the screen recording feature on my phone. While putting the project together, I learned more about how to use transitions and adjust their timing. In addition to transitions, I got more familiar with the elements that Capcut editing has to offer. These elements included the keyframe tool and the trimming. I also learned how to better align objects, as I found that Capcut is very sensitive when moving clips around. At the end of my commercial, I also learned how to fade out audio so as to not abruptly cut off the song at the end.

In my next project, I think that I could be more versatile with the transitions that I used. Capcut offers a multitude of premade transitions to add to your projects that I could utilize in the future. Additionally, in a future project, I think I could definitely be more creative with the way I structure things. To do this I could look online at other's projects and draw inspiration from them or come up with ideas with friends in a group to have more plans and recommendations out there for not just myself, but all of us. Prior to this project, I had always thought that editing was an interesting hobby and a good skill to possess which I've seen in my peers and friends. This commercial allowed me to explore this skill under the guidance of my teachers and peers.

One thing I have learned about the process of putting together a project is time management and planning. I had to make sure that I had time to edit and create the commercial just how I wanted it. Other than the creation of the commercial itself, I also had to find time to write all the blogs along the way. Not only did I have to find the time to just simply write them, but I also had to make sure that they sounded good and were composed in a way I would want to present to Cambridge and anyone reading my blogs.

Something more that I learned about the process is that even though the production blogs could be a bit of a challenge sometimes, I am still glad that I got to do them. This is because I believe that these production blogs helped with my understanding of what is expected of me in the course. Not only was my understanding improved, but I also feel like it was a helpful practice for the blogs I must continue to write in the future of this course. Overall, I feel like my first project in the Media course was a success and was super fun to do!
